The PS5 is taking the world by storm with a whopping 2 million units sold and still counting. It has completely outmatched the new XBOX X with sales of only 950,000 units sold. Even Sony (the company that made playstation) has even said that "everything is being sold out" as their stocks are dropping in numbers. So surely this may be the best console of the technology era right?
The PS5 has many improvements compared to its younger brother, the PS4. However it still has its usual drawbacks which causes the ps5 some issues.
The PS5 has a very sleek design that is way different from its usual cubic design. It has a circular shape at the base so it can stand vertically and helps it to keep it steady. It also has a plastic curvy shape sticking out of the main hardware for aesthetics and a blue light running through the edges giving it that icy vibe. In my opinion, this makes the PlayStation a science fiction movie prop which looks futuristic. However this can't be said to other people, one said "i thought I was buying a console, not a router" and others thought that the PlayStation should've stuck with their traditional design. However others also thought it was one of the best looking console out of every consoles that Sony released. So what do you think of it?
The PS5 has many features that also includes some in PS4. One feature includes backwards compatibility(where you can play PS4 games on the PS5) which isn't on the PS4 but it is on the XBOX 1. But one main feature that they added in the PS5 is that they added 2 modes, performance mode and hyphedelity mode. Hyphedality mode has better graphics and this is where Ray tracing (game realism) is on. It includes so much details and has better texture of the game but this can stress the ps5 and can only run at 30fps. However, in performance mode, it is less graphical and doesn't include many realistic details of the game but runs at 60fps and it is so much smoother than hypherdelity mode.
The controller of the PS5 is an upgrade from the PS4. The design isn't that different but the overall software is a massive step-up. It has a better battery and doesn't need to be recharged until for 2 days. The most important and the best feature is the adaptive trigger resistance which responds to any game, for e.g. in a game when you are pulling an object, the trigger resistance is high as if you are actually pulling the object, however this level of resistance may not be adaptive to a few games which can ruin the overall experience. It also includes a built-in microphone which is very useful for poor people like me who have to buy a second-hand one from eBay. However, one disadvantage is that the controller is really heavy and big as Sony keeps on adding new features on it, so it feels uncomfortable holding it which is a huge disadvantage for gamers
Now the cost of the PS5 is very pricey (digital is £499 and hard disk is £599) and this may be because of the numerous features added in the ps5 which is good but makes the price expensive. Another disadvantage is that the digital ps5 is not able to play ps4 games as you have to buy it digitally on the ps5 which does not include ps4 games and this upsets a lot of gamers.
