Despite them being favourites in the eyes of many bookies going into this season, and reciprocating this respect by having a near perfect start (give or take a few hiccups), it seems that Liverpool are undergoing their worst ever form under Jurgen Klopp at the moment. Goals seem to be alluding the once free scoring front three, with 1 goal and 2 points in their last 4 games threatening them to slip out of the title race altogether. The game on Sunday really epitomizes everything going wrong at the moment for Klopp’s men - they dominated possession and strung some lovely moves together with ease, but there was zero conviction in the final third, with Roberto Firmino seeming particularly profligate at times when presented with chances. Really, with Man United sitting back against a struggling strikeforce, it was always destined to be 0-0, however admittedly it was one of the more enjoyable 0-0s we have witnessed so far this season.

Elsewhere this weekend, we saw a dazzling Phil Foden display help Man City to a 4-0 win against Crystal Palace, further strengthening his bid for a starting place in Gareth Southgate’s team in the upcoming Euros. John Stones has also had a resurgence this season, looking extremely solid at the back in Guardiola’s team. After a shaky start, it does seem like City will prove to be the best of an under-performing bunch this season and win the league. As well as this, UCL tipped Wolves have continued their shaky form since Raul Jimenez suffered his awful injury, as West Brom came to the Molineux and snatched the three points after a contentious battle. Not only does their form accentuate the importance of Raul Jimenez to their system, but it does also pose questions of Nuno’s ability to adapt to circumstances he is presented with. It could be argued that if his plan b is an unproven youngster from Portugal in his first season abroad, then perhaps further investment is required to fully cement Wolves as a potential European dynasty in the future. Elsewhere, Chelsea relied on a late Mason Mount winner to eek out three points at Craven Cottage, (not before they lost 2-0 to Leicester on Tuesday night) and Arsenal managed a 3-0 win against Newcastle with Aubameyang finally finding his shooting boots in this campaign, netting a brace to secure a resounding victory for Arteta’s men.

This season is the strangest I have seen in a long time. The title race, whilst I would tip Man City to snatch it in the final few games of the season, is realistically still wide open - at the time of writing this, Leicester are top of the league, which might shock many as not even the biggest football hipsters have backed Brendan Rodgers at times this season. Each weekend has the potential to pull up a new surprise
